Hi

When using megui+xvid_encraw Is it possiable to make the 1st Pass as with XviD vfw (with quantizer =2).

Thanks

First pass has always been using quantizer 2. No matter what bitrate you might set for first pass, xvid will use quantizer 2 to gather the stats file because it's the way it's rate-control works.

Now, if you want the first pass to generate a quant. 2 video file (and I suppose you would want to keep that) it's another matter all together :) This would be asking for "Full size 1st pass" and "Keep first pass file" options in xvid_encraw (which I don't know of).

Thanks for the answer

I wanted to make sure that the 1st pass is done with quantizer 2.

Do you know why does the period of time more than tripled while encoding the 1st pass with megui , compared to encoding with XviD vfw via virtualdub?

I don't use MeGUI at the moment, so I can't tell you for sure.
But as a matter of principle, I would say that it's because you didn't check the "turbo" button (which means "fast 1st pass").

Anyway MeGUI doesn't configure XviD the same way that you would have done yourself in vdub, so don't expect the speed to be the same unless you choose the exact same settings.
