Hi,

I own the DVD of the Limited Edition of 3 LOTR movies which contain the Theatrical and Extended versions on the same DVD.

I have ripped the Extended version into an XViD encoded AVI file with 1500kbps video bitrate and 448kbps AC3 audio. The issue is when I rip the subtitles for side A of the DVD.

Side A of the DVD has two PGC's - Theatrical is 1:20:43 long (PGC1) and Extended is 1:46:40 long (PGC2). I used Vobsub to rip the English subtitles for PGC2 alone which is what I required.

When I playback the movie with the subtitles, it plays perfectly in sync for the first 45 to 50 mins and then the subtitles start to show some lag and it plays with a large delay later on with atleast a 5 to 6 second lag with the audio. The DVD plays them perfectly in sync at all times though.

Is there an easy way to have this fixed ? Vobsub has a tool called Subresync but I am clueless how to have them corrected with that.

This is my first post on this forum and I am relatively new to ripping too.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Ashwin

You can correct the time of the subtitle at the middle of the movie with subresync. Open the subtitle in it and at the right time(e.g. 50 mins in your case) left click twice the time on the left then you can enter the correct time. After you have entered the correct value press enter. A green circle will appear. Then go to a line at the end or near the end and change the time there. The lines between them will be spread evenly. You can add extra points in between if you want fine adjustments. If it is a srt file you can simply save it, if it is a idx/sub then you have to save it with a different name.
Subresync is very useful to adjust problematic subs.
