I've got a bunch of MPEG1 encoded files on my hard disk that have been downloaded over the years. A couple of weeks ago, some of them started acting wierd in Windows Media Player. They play fine, but the progress bar is based on like the first thirty seconds of the clip. After the thirty seconds, the videos are playing fine, but the progress bar is useless for clicking around in the video.
These videos work with the progress bar in iTunes just fine, but iTunes isn't as good a player as WMP. I've noticed that in iTunes when the OSD controls pop up at the bottom of the video window, the video plays jagged. This is in all video I play with iTunes, not just these wierd MPEG1 files. So, I'd like to get these files back working in Windows Media Player.
I know that some of these video files used to work just fine in Windows Media Player, but stopped for some reason recently.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling some ffdshow codec pack, but that had no effect.
Suggestions really appreciated.
