I laborate many hours on this problem and I can't resolving this correctly for me.
The original software (SunPlus Transcoding Tool) works good in my PMP (portable media player), produces playable files, but this software isn't good for me - too little features, too primitive.

I test many alternative ASF muxing software (mencoder, ffmpeg, vidtoASF, SolvegMMsoft,...), but no success.

I remuxing SunPlus' ASF by mencoder back to ASF (for testing, if mencoder's ASF muxing is compatible), but this file isn't playable. Surprisingly. :( I suspect that ASF format - used in SunPlus compatible - isn't standard ASF, but modified ASF container format?

Any idea or experiences, please?

PMP plays-
video: ISO MPEG-4 SP (fourcc=MP4S), no b-frames, gop relatively short (gop=15?)
audio: PCM or ADPCM_IMA
container: special modification(?) of ASF format

Try Blaze Video Magic V2...
This is the only software I found (with more settings than PMP) that make me ASF files who work on my MPMan MP-CS250. I've not tested it enough to tell you which setting is better for instance.
But you can set audio from 8K to 48K step by step, video size, Fps, KeyFrame/s.

Wish this post help you.
