View Full Version : Rip It 4 Me and audio sync issues

I have tried the RipIt4Me program and strangely enough even though I follow the instructions on the RipIt4Me guide I am still getting audio / video sync problems. Just happened with RV ...
In the past I had used AnyDVD followed by recoding with Nero Recode of just the main movie -- that process, although time consuming usually got the files ready for AutoGK and resulted in a proper sync.

In reading some of the posts I saw a discrepency in what I have not been doing -- will RipIt4Me work without the extra Nero step if I just rip the Main Movie alone? Is that the secret to getting a sync'd audio? because I know if I otherwise follow the instructions I have had two recent movies that were not sync but I did rip the entire DVD using RipIt4Me

Thanks
John

Will give it a try.

Have you had any experience or do you see any use for AnyDVD? I realize it is not free so a deterant to many users.

do you see any use for AnyDVD?Not since the advent of "RipIt4me" - and cost is not a deciding factor in my personal use or acquisition of software...

Forgot to ask in the begininng - do you use the DVD Shrink addition of the RipIt4Me install? If you do then that would be similar to my previous routine of AnyDVD then using Nero to get the Main Movie and the AutoGK.

I have tried the RipIt4Me but am still having problems with jerky video and some sync problems but I am waiting on some tropubleshooting runs so I can make an intelligent posts (w logs).

For purposes of conversion (e.g. using AutoGK or similar), you should be using the "movie only" selection in "RipIt4Me". Also (you should already know this from reading the tutorial), be sure to use the "FixVTS" step, to finish "clreaning up" the files properly...

You know, I've had that same problem since I started using RipIt4Me as well. I don't have sync issues with the re-burnt DVDs, but I've only had one AutoGK encode that wasn't completely out of sync.

It also seems to get easily confused. R did a recent rip of a Babylon 5 DVD, and it got the audio all screwed; it'd actually be one episode and the audio from another, or it'd have the correct audio but shifted backwards five minutes.

And the sync issues aren't limited to AutoGK either. I finally broke down and bought the full Divx 6 package, including the plugin for Divx Converter, and all of the titles I ripped with RipIt4Me were severely out of sync.

As much as I like the convenience of RipIt4Me, I am dumping this program at the earliest opportunity. Just as soon as I find another all-in-one program. I used to use Robot4Rip, but I don't use the full Gordian Knot package anymore, and I don't know if it will work with AutoGK.

Hi cubdukat

It's your first post so you have my welcome to the forum and my best wishes for a happy new year even if I have some remarks about your post.

One remark is about quoting the first post from Jcrompton the thread starter that is 2 months old so a bit time shifted; more, there is no indication that Setarip_old tips were not useful, I will quote Jcrompton last post:
... but I am waiting on some tropubleshooting runs so I can make an intelligent posts (w logs)

Second remark is about hijacking a thread and can point (if excessive) to rule 2; if you want to use this thread cause you have similar problems, give details about the procedure used the options used in R4Me etc... if you want useful answers

Third remark is a practical one; you state your problems are coming from R4me so be smart, post in the R4Me thread where expert users can evaluate your statements and authors can take problems and bugs into account. But do you really want to rip successfully with R4Me? ...

... I am dumping this program at the earliest opportunity.
You are one of very very few having problems with R4me, in the same time many, many others are having success like here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=927130#post927130 or here: http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=922135#post922135
So if you dump, could you dump silently?
If not other contributors may also react in their own way, as I have, to your posts.

You don't need to use RipIt4Me on every disk. Some of the processing it does may actually cause A/V synch where there would be none without it. setarip_old has posted a procedure to determine whether or not RipIt4Me is necessary or appropriate for a disk, and I can tell you now that the region 1 Babylon 5 disks have no advanced copy protection and will work perfectly if ripped using DVD Decrypter in .IFO mode.

My bad. Guess I shoulda looked first.

I wasn't aware RipIt4Me was geared more towards the newer copy protection schemes. I'll try the DVDDecryper only approach.

Tottaly wrong....
If someone uses the "Movie Only" mode of RipIt4Me, then there will be no a/v desync regardless the presence of an advanced protection scheme...

In all instances? I probably should have added that using data from RipIt4Me for AutoGK input may be problematic. I haven't tested the theory myself, but I have noticed a large number of comments from people who have used RipIt4Me on a disk with no advanced copy protection along with AutoGK that have synch problems with their end file.

Yes, if someone uses the "Movie Only" mode of RipIt4Me....

Yes, if someone uses the "Movie Only" mode of RipIt4Me....
+1 for all instances when using the "movie only", 1 click-mode and all defaults options (so FixVTS will do it's great job)

It can be verified when (inside RI4Me) Shrink is launched at the end of the procedure, the movie (with audio) viewed and the synch verified in Shrink preview window.

Some exceptions
1/ Asynch with RI4Me will also be asynch in DVDDecrypter alone
2/ RI4Me may choke (an give errors) on a badly ripped or scratched DVD-> if so change the reader and try again
