I think this has been discussed before, but I could not find a thread on it.

What is the best DVD Media to get? Should I be putting all my backups on DVD+R or DVD-R?? If they are basically the same, which do you prefer?

Also, im sure thery are all basically the same, but is there a brand name that you prefer?

Is Sony better than imitation?

I use imitation DVD+R, and they seem to work well. They sometimes have trouble on different DVD players, but mostly work on every player I have.

Hi!

Your question should be, "What's the right media to use for both my burner and the player it will be played on".

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your DVD burner, as well as media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdwriters

(If necessary, open the Device Manager in the Control Panel to determine the make and model number)

To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:

www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers

On the other hand, if you read around a little bit, you'll notice that Verbatim DVD+R is the recommended media to use for DVD 9s.

Take into account the information setarip_old has supplied, and tailor that to your needs. However, be aware that in many cases different media is going to work differently with varying degrees of success depending on your setup specially when burning DVD 5s.

Verbatim DVD+R is recommended by many users in various threads throughout this forum whwn burning Dual Layer images.
