i have a avi file made from an .vob file with audio skew of -624ms. i compensated that skew from the avi (made with dr.divx) with vrtual dub. but this new avi won't play on my stan alone player. it's playing fine on my computer. and avi with the skew also plays fine on the stan alone player (cyberhome 635s).

so what has v.dub made with my avi? what can i do about this? are ther other programs or some settings in v.dub that i should consider?

the audiotrack is ac3 6channel.

Hi! If, as you say, another .AVI plays properly on your standalone player, and this one plays properly on your PC, it's likely you simply have a bad burn...

Does the burned disc of this .AVI play properly on your PC?

Does your standalone play other .AVIs with the same 6 channel audio format?

yes the burned disc plays fine - and its only the sound that's not plying.
in meantime i tried virtualdubmod instead of virtualdub - but the result is the same - the sound isn't working on stand-alone player.

VirtualDub delays the audio stream by padding it with zero's. For most decoders this should not pose a problem, but it is not completely the proper way of doing it.

You might want to use "AC3DelayCorrect" instead of VirtualDub...

Firstly DrDivx gives the file a .divx extension if that works on your player but an avi doesn't just try changing the extension. It sounds stupid but it has worked for many people on the Divx forum.

Secondly I have been told DivXMuxGUI can adjust the audio skew too but i don't know if it's any better then VirtualDub.
