Hello everybody!

I'm looking for a good video editing software that can cover all my needs and do the below!
1) Capture and edit DV using firewire card

2) Capture and edit VHS from a capture card (WinTV PVR USB2)

3) I want a Software that can do everything at once (capturing->encoding->compressing), instead of using many different programs for just one project. However it's not a problem if it can't burn the project, but I just want it to be able to produce a project that I can fit on a standard 4.7GB disk

I will use the software for home use, but i need it to be professional because I will need it capture and edit special family occasions like Holly Communions and Christenings.

I also want the program to come with many good looking professional Title Templates and Special Effects as they will be really handy when making a DVD for a Family occasion.

Also, I want it to be able to capture VHS through a capture card that is connected to a VCR by RCA cables. Then be able to edit it. So I can copy all my VHS tapes to DVD.

I was considering maybe Premier, however it can't capture VHS directly from a capture card, so then i thought maybe Powerdirector 5 after reading the 2006 Video editing Report, but I’m not sure if it can cover all my needs.

Money isn't a problem, because I’m thinking of the long run and I will be using this software a lot, so it will be worth the money. Also it doesn't matter if the program is hard to use as I will learn if it's going to be worth it.

So please any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Well, I don't know how much the review site you linked to is worth (or who's the sponsor ;) ). But what I know of PowerProducer is that is it just crap, buggy like hell, many annoyances. My experience with Cyberlink's video editor may be outdated, though, because I never tried the recent versions.

I'd suggest Magix Video Deluxe (which wasn't mentioned in the review above). It has many functions, can capture from analog devices (even from TV), and it comes with a decent MPEG-2 encoder.

There's cheaper software than Adobe Premiere for the purpose you described. All-in-one packages are typically consumer-class products, not (semi-)professional, by the way.

Hi, thanks for the help
I could only find Movie Edit Pro 11 on thier website, then when i selected for Deutschland for country, Magix Video Deluxe 2007, came up but it's in Dutch. So if I buy it, can I change it to english? (eg; in the installion)

Well, when I selected "Deutschland", the site came up in German, not Dutch. Which language are you looking for (I assumed English)?

"MAGIX Movie Edit Pro 11" seems to be the english name for "MAGIX Video deluxe 2007".

Ok, Thanks I will buy it soon but before I do, I want to know how good is output quality of this software, if I want to burn a finished project onto a DVD?

Thanks

The final quality depends on multiple factors, one of the most important is the quality of the source footage ;)

I assume your question was directed towards the MPEG-2 encoding quality. The MAGIX software contains the MainConcept MPEG-2 encoder, which is one of the best encoders available.

Before you buy the software you should install a trial. Then you can decide yourself whether it meets your needs or not.
