I've got a problem. I bought a Kiss DP-1100 DVD Player! First of all, this Player plays lots of formats. Divx and Nero are played without freezing! But everytime a insert a CD with a Xvid Movie on it the player freezes! The only thing i can do then is unplugg the power connector. My whole movie archive is Xvid and i don't want to re-encode this stuff (i would increase quality and i would take time!) Can anybody help me to solve this problem??? I have got the last firmware on it! Do anybody know this problem??? What can I do to play Xvid movies???

Hi!
Probably the inability to playback the XviDs you've created, because of the special features you used.
When you created these XviDs, did you use "QPEL" and/or "GMC"?

Yes, you're right. I used Quarter Pixel but without Quarter Pixel the image quality is lower! Is there no way to play these movies on my DP-1100?

Unfortunately, many .AVI-capable standalone players have this limitation. Is there no way to play these movies on my DP-1100?Apparently not without modifying them - or buying a different player...

Ok, I won't buy a new DVD-Player because I bought the DP-1100 just one weeek ago! It was very expensive and it is weird but Nero Digital is played without any errors.
Today, I'm going to encode a DVD in Xvid with all xvid encoder versios. (Xvid 1.0.3;Xvid 1.1 and the new experimental Built!)
I will tell you later what results I got.
Thanks for your help.

Re-encode the movie(s) with quantizer = 2, without QPel.
This will give you a final video that will be ok for your player and as near as possible to the one you already encoded (of course with a higher file size).

Depending on the resolution and content Q2 could lead to problems due to bitrate spikes. Safest is always 2 pass with a Home Theatre profile.

Of course you're right, but he said:

So I assumed that he didn't want to spend too much time on reencoding every movie. Btw, getting it faster but with spikes isn't a good way ^^, so I have to agree :)

DivX I think can do single pass with VBV maybe?
