View Full Version : Can I create a DVD Track with 2 audio streams, but just parts?

Hi, my question is easy, but not so much.

Now I explain better: this summer, me and my friends had a lot of fun with my Digital Camcorder. Now, I'm working on this material and I'd like to create a nice DVD.

The content of my future DVD is me and my friends, and our motorcycles. There are the parts where we're on foot and we stay togheter (and in these parts the original audio is enough for me), in other parts there are we and our motorcycles on the street. I'm working hard on these parts and I'm making small videoclips, with a nice song as soundtrack and our scenes in syncro with sound (as better as I can).
On these parts, I'd like to keep also the original sound of our engines. I don't want to mix them together, but make these 2 audio streams so I can decide what to ear.

Now, the easyest way to make it, is encode the whole video (and in this part I've no problems), create the first audio track, and create the second one.

Doing this way, I'd waste a lot of space, because 3/4 of the final project doesn't need to have 2 audio tracks (the original is good enough for me).

I'd like to make it in ONE TRACK (VTS_01_x.VOB), and only few chapters will need the second audio track.

Is it possible or do I have to make more tracks? (VTS_01_x.VOB with 1 audio track, VTS_02_x.VOB with 2 audio tracks, and so on ...)

I think the easiest way is to separate the video to different titles so that each title can have it's own soundtracks and you assign the titles to be played the order you like.

Also this job is very very simple with Scenarist. Why you do not use that?

Yes, I used it last year, with my holidays' DVD, but I used it just for simple mux and subtitles.

Is it possible to make it in just one Title?

I'll give it a try.

I'm nearly at the end of the job, I've to work a little bit, render the final movie and encode it.

Also I though: and if I make the second stream long as the whole video, but making the redundant parts with pure silence (in the sencond stream only), and encode it with a pure VBR AC3 stream?
AFAIK it's not possible doing it with mp2 because the minimum bitrate is always 112 kbs (I tried it a lot with besweet).
