Ok i am a newbie and just started doin this 2 weeks ago, i have encountered a couple of stuff which i am confused about, please help me.

i live in Aus so all my dvds i rent are PAL Region 4, i have heard you should only use Forced Film on NTSC DVD's and never use forced film on PAL dvd's, is this true and please explain ??

when i watch a DVD and sound is on 100 % it still isn't enough, is there anyway (perhaps with LAME) i can make the audio louder and keeping it in sync with the video at the same time ??

ok now the issue of Interlacing, when i run dvd2avi and open up my Vob files, i press F5, this tells me stuff about the movie, i.e. the region which is PAL and whether it is interlaced or not. Every time the DVD is interlaced which means i have to run a deinterlace filter. Is a deinterlace filter the best way to remove interlacing and whats the best way ? Should it be removed ? and does quality fall when deinterlace is run, whats better, leaving it or deinterlacing it??

ok now last one, the issue of 1 pass and 2 pass, i use the Divx 4.12 codec for compression using Virtual Dub. Now i did the matrix with
1 pass, forced film and interlacing, the video looks excellent but is jerky and the interlacing is bad, i then did Final Fantasy with 2 pass, no forced film and deinterlace filter, the interlacing is merged together so its not too bad but you can sometimes see the 2 lines merged and its not a clear crystal picture, clear up this issue for me please?!

thanks!!
