View Full Version : Dvd shrink problems with nero 6 update

DVD Shrink altogether with nero 6.0 is not a problem. There is an option in shrink where it will instantly burn the movie to an empty DVD after compressing the movie. But after the upgrade with Nero to some number I don’t recall now, the instant burn function does not work. That is hardly any problem cause you can just burn the vob files to the hard drive, and afterwards just use Nero directly. So I just wonder if there is possible to be able to burn directly still with shrink even after this upgrade? Could I just change any settings?

And the second question, is it the same problem also with Nero 7?

It's simply that DVD Shrink can no longer locate your previous version of NERO - because you've replaced it with a new upgrade version.

NERO MUST ALWAYS be installed BEFORE DVD Shrink, so just uninstall DVD Shrink, reboot your system (cautionary), reinstall DVD Shrink and reboot again (cautionary)

Any reason why you don't use the instant burn function of DVD Shrink with freeware DVD Decrypter? ie. Shrink creates an ISO which is then burned automatically with DVD Decrypter (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Rippers/SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe)...or for that matter ImgBurn (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/SupportUtils/SetupImgBurn_2.1.0.0.exe).

No special reason. When I first used dvd shrink it had an option to burn with nero. Back in those days I didn't even have dvd decrypter. But most movies if full are usually larger than a normal 4.7 gb dvd, so you have to first compress it with shrink, and i dont't know, but as far as I know decrypter dosn't have that function...yet.

You may want to try the modified version of DVD Shrink (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=63869) that, after Shrink compresses the movie, automatically calls up ImgBurn to burn to DVD.

Remember, 6.6.1.4 has the Cannot connect TRF message. If you like Nero and wanna burn with it, go back to version 6.6.0.18, which did not suffer this problem.

Or go forward to v7.5.whatever it is now.

But ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) is 100% cheaper and extremely good.

Yes your right, nero update 6.6.1.4 does not work, whatever you do, so setarip_old's tip to install shrink after nero does not work.
And I dont like having the movies in iso format, I can also use dvd decrypter for burning directly after encoding, don't have to install imgburner too. Like having the vob files sepertly. The iso file is zipped and it takes a lot of time to oppen it afterwards.
Looks like I have to get nero 7.5

I guess my crystal ball needs a cleaning ;>}

Just before you spend the $$$, ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com) also burns from VIDEO_TS files (and not simply an ISO). 'Tis free.

sorry about that, you´re right, my english isn't the best, so I think I didn't write the question fully understandable. My misstake. But as it seems, there are several ways of burning an compressed either vob files or an single iso file with dvd shrink. But since I like to have dvd shrink keeping all vob files after compressing (in that format) but not in a single iso file, so until I eventually uppgrade to nero 7.5 (if I ever do), I will continue to put the vob files into the harddrive (in the vob format) to later burn it with nero.

That is cause as I wrote before I like the files to be in vob format, It is more easy for me to be able to work with thoose files later, like compress to div-x and other stuff.

Thanks for now, and I think this thread has done its work.

@Blutach

So, before I just checked the box in DVD Shrink Preferences that enabled burning with Nero. Now that I've upgraded to the latest version (6.6.1.4) I can't use it. I downloaded ImgBurn. My question is how can I enable DVD Shrink to automatically implement ImgBurn as it used to do with Nero (before the upgrade)? By the way I use the RipIt4Me package.

would you be so kind and read what has already been written before posting :)

this thread hasn't many posts and feedback posted a link to a modified version of DVD Shrink that, after Shrink compresses the movie, automatically calls up ImgBurn to burn to DVD.

You got me sillKotscha. And I was thinking I did my job and found this thread; but didn't read the whole thing. Apologies to all.

That does not solve the problem, it will not recognise Nero version 6.6.1.4 update with the Ultra Buffer.
