View Full Version : Region freeing WinDVD 6?

I have a locked WinDVD 6 on a laptop, the drive is region free but it seems the user has used up all region changes from WinDVD.

DVD Genie 4.10 only works up to WinDVD 3, I tried it but it fails.

DVD Region Killer doesn't help either, but I suspect this is because WinDVD is already locked to R2, and the inserted disc is R1.

Media Player Classic plays the DVD so I think it is not an RCE disc, the problem is with WinDVD. It's not playing well on Zoomplayer (anamorphic disc).

Can anyone help? Thanks!

Did you try installing the free AnyDVD driver?

Thanks for your reply. My apologies for not responding, I had to go on an emergency trip out of town for a few days.

I'll give the AnyDVD driver a try, but are you sure this is free? I thought it was shareware/payware?

PS: does this work with RPC2 drives as well? A friend has a laptop with a Matsushita drive, for which there is no RPC1 hacked firmware available.

Sorry, AnyDVD isn't free, I was thinking of DVD43 (http://www.dvd43.com/). It should work with all drives, it was designed for RPC2, but I'm not sure.

Thanks! Worked for me, but unfortunately not for my friend's laptop - DVD43 says "DVD region does not match. Trying CSS cracking to g" and then just keeps trying.

From what I could find on the RPC1 website, Panasonic has really bad reputation for making RPC2 nearly impossible to crack.
