View Full Version : Audio always out of sync

I've been trying to convert ripped DVDs to h.264 and AAC videos, however, the audio always seems to be faster than the video.

I ended up writing a simple AVS script to frameserve the d2v file, and used Media Player Classic to dub the demuxed audio in and I was getting the same delay even though the file header says 0ms delay.

Any thoughts as to why this is occuring?

No, I didnt have any framerate changes like that.

I just got it to work now though by creating a d2v with DGindex 1.4.9 beta and selecting Options>Force Open GOPs in d2v file.

I dont know what it did, but it works now, and it wasnt before

last time i had to use that option, it was because of a bad rip, have you tried re-ripping the disc using ripitforme and dvd decrypter ?

I'm pretty sure I used DVDfab Decrypter but its been a while since I ripped it. Would it cause issues if I enabled that option on all the d2vs I create (since I'd like to batch encode a lot of movies) or would have to go movie by movie and make sure? (which would take a long time)

It is safe to use that option all the time. Theoretically, it just makes seeking a bit slower. But I don't see how this option could affect audio sync.

I dont know how either, but it worked on two movies.

I'm currently having some audio sync issues with another movie (Firewall), but it also had a delay specified in the title, and even though I took that into account it was still having issues.

I'm reencoding it right now with some different settings to see if it was just a setting somewhere

EDIT: Nope still having issues with it, the audio is 2 minutes shorter than the video as well

I've been using the following versions of DGIndex;
1.4.5
1.4.8

and I'm now using the beta of 1.4.9 which is doing well with some DVDs and not others

I used DVD Decrypter for some, and DVDfab Decrypter for some of the others.

Hi!

You might want to use "RipIt4me" in "movie only" mode. You can download this excellent freeware from:

www.ripit4me.org

While you're at that site, read the excellent "how to" tutorial...

try this:

get ripit4me (http://www.ripit4me.org/) and FixVTS (http://download.videohelp.com/FixVTS/)

and run rip it for me and let it do all the work - as this sounds like a disc with newer protection on it which dvdrb cant handle on its own, if the above tools dont help sort it then im not sure what else i can do to help :scared:

edit : heheh setarip_old beat me too it by 1 min :)

Thanks for the suggestions!

These DVDs in question were Firewall (2006) with Harrison Ford and Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy.

I'll run that VTSfix tool to see if it can fix anything though :-)

It is strongly advised that you first RE-rip the DVDs using the "RipIt4Me" package - in "movie only" mode.

Using "FixVTS" by itself on your original rips likely will NOT resolve the out of synch situation...

OK, I'll go ahead and do that then! Thanks guys for all your help!

it working ?

I've been a little busy lately, but I'm trying out right now on a different newer DVD since someone misplaced my CD wallet that had them (which was I ripped them in the first place lol)

I'll keep you posted to see if it works

I just tried it out again using a straight DVD rip of Syriana using Ripit4me and the encode process went perfectly.

Thanks again!
