hey everyone

I'm copying all my old 8mm tapes over to the computer in hopes to back them up to dvd.

I'm using a Digital8 camcorder to transfer to the computer.

It's NTSC interlaced obviously.

I used the tutorial on the site for DV to DVD conversion.

Now the outputed video plays back fine on the computer, but when I play it back on my dvd player, it seems to stutter. The video and the audio play back at the right speed, but it has a ghost like effect.

used the CCE method
any help?

Please, post more info, like:
- CCE version;
- CCE option for BFF or TFF;

i was reading the tutorial wrong, i need to uncheck output top field first, cause its BFF.

using CCE 2.70 SP

going to encode tonight and see if it fixes it

It is very likely that this was your problem :)

turns out that was the problem

another question, the original file is 1h33m30s
in CCE it shows up as 1h33m25s

the extracted audio file is the same as the original.

This happens when I import the original avi into CCE or the avisynth script file.

any idea why its 5 seconds short?

How do you know that the original file is 1h 33m 30s? Where do you see this time information?

I'd rather verify the framecounts, not the time display, for reliability reasons. Open your original file in VirtualDub, note the framecount, then open the AviSynth script in VirtualDub, and compare.

well the frames are the same, both vdub and cce show 168 160.

interesting that the time is off by 5 seconds between the programs. vdub also shows 1h 33m 30s, as does wmp.
