i would like to buy a (dvb) satellite card, and would like to know which one is the best right now on the market.

from what i can gather it seems skystar2 is best but would like other people's view on what they have and have tried and know. thanks :D

2 years ago, I had a DVB card from Pinnacle, and I wasn't happy with it, due to the following limitations:
- The TV software didn't have a good deinterlacer
- The reception was not stable, I got blockiness from time to time.

So I got rid of it, and got a normal TV card along a normal SAT receiver with S-Video output, and connected the SAT receiver to the TV-card using an S-Video cable, and the sound to the line-in of the sound card with an appropriate adapter. This allows me to use the excellent DScaler with its good deinterlacing capabilities (along with a whole bunch of other good filters, like Noise Reduction and Sharpness) and I also use it to capture without having to wonder, when the next blocky part will come and ruin it ;)

I'm not sure things have changed since then...
