lost pictures

I needed to reformat my computer so to save all my pictures I burned them to a cd rom disc using nero burning software.Now I can only view my pictures on my dvd player.When I try to open the pictures on my computer it asks me what program do I want to open it with and nero doesnt have any programs associated with it to open my pictures.when I go into the disc it has 5 folders.cdi,ext,mpegav,segment,and vcd.The segment folder has all my pictures labeled from item0001 to item9999 but every time I try to open one it says you are trying to open a file of type dat file .DAT and I cant find anyting on my computer to open this file.but it works fine on my dvd player.any help would be appreciated.

Evidently you've burned your pictures to a VCD format disk. You will need to reconvert your pictures from that format to individual picture files.

In the future, you should burn a data disk to back up files.

If you have it, you might try using WinDVD to play your VCD. Although I'm not personally familiar with the "Segment" component of VCDs, you may discover that you've created a slideshow, controllable with the left and right arrow keys of your keyboard...

it' a vcd(mepg-1) format ,if you want get .jpg .bmp picture. you need capture it by play software.
