Hi,
I am new to encoding/converting large media files but when I encode a a 45-1 hour AVI/MPG to WMV it takes around 6-7 hours for 1 video? My stats were tested on a 2.1 and 3ghz single processor both with 1g RAM and they have the same results... ? this is for 800x600+ resolution.
Can anyone tell me how or if it's possible to have better encoding times? I can't change the resolution but wondering if a duo-processor would actually be faster, or windows media edition make a difference, if anyone tested this, etc. I am willing to buy/upgrade new hardware but I don't want to buy some brand new $2000+ comp and have the same results.
If I need special encoding hardware (or possibly non-pc encoder?) let me know as this is for a business and interested in all 'professional' options. I'm looking for at least 2-3 hours max per video.
Thank you.
