Hi, I've been thinking of buying DVDFab Platinum in order to rip my DVD's to my hard drive. I know there are a number of free tools which I've been using up to now. Just getting tired of all the problems with the new protection schemes and want a simple method, which is frequently updated. I don't mind paying for convenience.

I'm just wondering if anyone here has used it and what there opinion is. Is it worth the $59.99. Also any difference between this and XCopy9?

I would highly recommend AnyDVD in its stead. AnyDVD is very frequently updated (with ANY future updates free to customers) and only costs $40 (if I remember correctly). I liked the program so much I bought it and I never once regretted the decision. I give it 5 stars...excellent program, runs transparently in the background, low memory consumption, low-complexity installation.

Is it worth the $59.99.In my opinion, no, it's not - certainly not for the sole purpose of ripping your DVDs.

(Freeware) RipIt4me is updated more frequently.

(Freeware) DVDFabDecrypter is updated at the same time, if not sooner than DVDFab Platinum

(Commercial) DVD95Copy (True "one-click" software) is updated as soon as new protection schemes are noted - and costs less...

I agree with setarip and would add that AnyDVD can not handle some advanced protections, mostly seen in the European markets. Given its $40 price tag, it doesn't seem worth it either.

my opinion is why pay for software that's illegal to use in most countries?

although, in australia the situation is different - i don't think there's many of these corrupted DVDs in circulation. it's been a good while since i ripped anything hollywoody. i'll be miffed if "snakes on a plane" comes with RipGuard, arccos et al.
