I have a matroska file with mp3 audio and h264 video. On the computer I have ffdshow to decode the video and gabest's latest matroska splitter. The file plays fine with media player classic (all internal splitters and filters OFF) and I wanted to add it to a dvd, but when I try and open it with TMPGEnc (2.5.xx, the latest) it seems to start (the icons for ffdshow and vobsub appear briefly in the taskbar) and then after half a minute tmpgenc tells me the file cannot be opened (unsupported).

I tried extracting the video with MKV Extract GUI, but I don't know what extension to add to the filename...and I don't know if this is the issue.

I have used TMPGEnc with mkv files before, and I am wondering what the problem is...

Anybody have any suggestions?

You'd have to use avisynth's directshowsource; mkv isn't supported in any way by the old free tmpgenc. You need to use vfapi to shoehorn the avisynth into tmpegenc 2.x, iirc, as well. Details can probably be found by searching through this forum.

I'm using the new paid-for TMPGEnc, and other mkv files worked with it in the past. That's why I'm wondering why it won't work this time...
