Something very bad is happening to my nameservers. They keep deleting my A records! (and this is a different company from the one who hosed the webserver!)

Works here too. Check your connection settings and maybe see if your DNS servers can resolve megui.org (Start -> Run... -> cmd.exe and type nslookup megui.org)

autoupdate should work AOK througha proxy - it works the same as browsing the web.

Might be some restrictions applied in proxy settings. It is out of my control then.
