I'm looking for tools able to remux DV-AVI files to .dv or .dif without transcoding.
Any recommandations ?

QuickTime Pro should be able to do this. I know it can take a DV MOV and output a raw DV stream. Since it can open AVI (sort of ;) ) you should be able to extract the DV stream. Good luck

Thanks for your reply.
Actually, I've made the test with QT Player Pro but it re-encodes the audio/video tracks instead of just remux them to RAW DV ...

There is a program called FireStore DV Conversion Suite that will convert Type 1/2 into raw .dv without any re-encoding.
I don't know of any free programs that will do this.

What's the file format of a .dv like? Is it just a sequential dump of the frame data? Does it have some header data?
If it's just a straighforward dump of the frame data it should be pretty easy to write something that would convert .avi to .dv

Other than the OP, is there much demand for this? If so, we will add it as an option to our Enosoft DV Processor, including an option to capture directly to .dv instead of .avi.
