Hi, I've got a region 2 dvd player/burner and I've been having trouble ripping a region 1 dvd, I've tried using Smartripper, DVD Decrypter and DVDFab and none of them seem to be able to rip the first proper chapter of the DVD. I've also tried to watch the DVD on my computer using DVD Region+CSS free but none of my DVD viewing software will play the disk. Is there something wrong with the DVD or just some sort of extra coding I've not come across? I've ripped loads of region 2 DVDs without any hassle.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers TIM

If you hjave region free firmware or something that can emulate RPC2, then ripping should be no issue.
Try RipIt4Me (http://www.ripit4me.org/).

Hi!I've also tried to watch the DVD on my computer using DVD Region+CSS free but none of my DVD viewing software will play the disk.1) What is the Title of the DVD?
2) Does the DVD play on a multi-region standalone DVD player?

The DVD is 'Gummo'. Unfortunately I don't have a multiregion dvd player to test it on...I need to rip it so I can watch it!

That DVD is a 2001 release. It doesn't have any "special" or newer copy protection.
Is it a used and possibly damaged DVD?
You might want to take it into an electronics retailer and try playing it on a multi-region player - to help determine if it's not playable at all...
