Whats best App is for Coverting Vids?

See when i record them in DVD the file size is pretty big say 30mins = 1gb, i was just hoping to convert it so the file size isnt as big.

but which app is best for this i used MP4 but the pic quality isnt that good, so can anyone recommend a good codec to record them in ora decent app to convert them to a smaller file saize yet good pic quality.

Since you're clearly starting off new, try AutoGK. It's relatively fool-proof , simple to use and will yield good results.
