Hi,

I am investigating a bit what the default subtitle palette for home made DVD are with different authoring softwares especially when no subtitle stream is present. Normally these palettes are invalid with all colors to black or maybe to another color. I would be glad if you could help me build a list.

This information could be useful to determine if there is a valid palette on an authored DVD.

I start with the software I am using, Pinnacle Studio 8 and 9. Its palette (16 values) is the following (They seem all black): (R G B)

0 0 0
0 0 1
0 0 2
...
0 0 15

:thanks:

Manusse

Manusse, in my experience the default palette used by Muxman (among other authoring tools) is the most common default palette.

I don't know if the official DVD specs have information about a default palette, though.

My question is related to DVD made with authoring tools where the user doesn't add a subtitle stream. (Some like Pinnacle studio 8 and 9 don"t even have this function).

In this case, most of the tools don't care about the palette values and put what they want in the palette values in the IFO files. I am interested in knowing what those values are for common authoring tools like Premiere, ... Just in case some of you knew.

To check the palette values, you can just open your authored DVD that doesn't have subtitles with IFOedit and check the palette values.

Anyway, it is not that important.

Cheers
