How to burn at 2x with the Pioneer A03?

Ok... I may be missing something, but I cannot seem to get my Pioneer A03 to burn at 2x. If the software says it is burning at 2x, you look at it.. It is only burning at 1x.

I have tried different media, and quite a few different software packages.

Can anyone help me out here?

I've heard of that but don't have any answers for you. But please post if you find out. I just bought one. It claims to be able to do 2X on DVD-R's but only 1X on RW's.
