I had a rare movie (Faster Pussycat kill, kill kill) and the day I'm actually able to post here my external HD with the movie screws up and I lose everything. Anyone know how to to fix a external HD that isn't showing up? ;)

Hi,

First, extract HD from the case and mount it as internal. Try to read it as is possible that the problem comes from the case. If the case is the culprit, get another. If not:

If it is possible get another disk without valuable information, with equal size or bigger and do a copy of your disk. You can use this freeware

http://www.easeus.com/download.htm#dc

Then you can work over the copy and have original secure.

Try to extract multimedia files (you must have free espace in other disks to store the extracted files) with this freeware:

If your damaged disk isn't readable in your system, try this rescue software (also freeware):

Good luck

I had a similar problem, but it turned out to be software-related. The removable storage service would shut down immediately after launching without any error messages. After hours of frustrating attempts at tweaking the registry, examining Regmon and Filemon captures, and useless googling, I uninstalled Nero 5.5, which turned out to be the culprit.

@Panzram

Hi!I had a rare movie (Faster Pussycat kill, kill kill) and the day I'm actually able to post here my external HD with the movie screws up and I lose everything.Certainly, losing all of your hard drive data is upsetting but, as far as the movie goes it's no big deal, since you can always make a new rip from your original, commercial DVD once you've gotten things straightened out...

As far as this Russ Meyer DVD being rare, there are two NTSC copies available at Amazon.com Canada:

as well as PAL versions from other Amazon locations...
