Hi!

If they are in "SSA" format, you can use VirtualDub and its built-in "Subtitler" filter...

Gordian Knot can also be handy to use.

@setarip_old
thnks. But AFAIK when u use virtualdub u have to use full processing mode for video which again effects the quality of video. correct me if im wrong. Is there any way the Full processing mode can be avoided?
@ BigCondor

You mentioned in your earlier post that you wish to hardcode the subs into avi, hence, setarip_old gave you that method. You can't hardsub without recompressing. If you simply want to mux the subtitles with the avi, VirtualDubMod will let you add SRT subtitle files. There's AVIMuxGui, too. Personally, I use Matroska if I want files with selectable subtitles and multiple audio streams.

Hardcode subs means that the subtitles are part of the video. So the video must be re-encoded because you have to change the video.

In the future, do your "hardsubbing" at the same time you use VirtualDub to create your original .AVI from your DVD. This will allow you to avoid REcompressing the video...
