View Full Version : Open GOP in video stream

When I tried to import a video of a full movie more than 90 mins in DVD Maestro the other day, it showed that the length of the movie is only 1 sec. When I tried to load it in DVD-Lab Pro, it reported that the file is open GOP. I used Smart Ripper to rip the source. I've tried to rip it straight form DVD-Lab Pro and the result is still the same.

I had even tried to use DVD-RB to do a slight compression with CCE but it didn't work.

So, is there any program that can cure the problem? Is re-encoding really necessary?

DVDPlanner and muxman will report the correct lengths (file indexing will need to be done by the program)

that the file is open GOP
DVDLab just reports "Open GOP" no need to be worried about that (Open GOPs are spported by DVD Video).

DVD Maestro the other day, it showed that the length of the movie is only 1 sec

Probably there is a sequence end code in the stream, remove it using Restream and Maestro will show and use full length.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've tried Restream with no luck, perphaps I'll try again with different settings.

If I use DVD Planner or Muxman to make another DVD, will they fix the issue on "Open GOP"?
I've tried DVDLab Pro and it didn't cure the problem.

Did you choose "Remove sequence end code" (and tried the fixed file in Maestro)?

will they fix the issue on "Open GOP"?

Once more - "Open GOP" is not an issue in authoring, only if you cut MPEG files
You can turn off the message in "Project - Project Properties - Advanced - Warn if Open GOP detected"

bigotti5, I'll try with the setting you suggested, thanks!
Being having used DVD Maestro for more than a hundred discs of course I do hope it will work there. So sorry if I keep saying that was an issue. Besides, DVD-Lab PRO also tells me that but it emphasis that the DVD will work.

The truth is finally found, it is not the GOP that keeps DVD Maestro from testing the file. The issue is corrected after "Remove sequence end code" with Restream. Thanks for bigotti5 for pointing it out.
