I am extracting and converting various anime episodes from the retail discs I have for use on my PQI mPack P800. According to the user manual for my mPack, it is able to recognize and use what it calls "Caption Files" which I assume are essentially the same as subtitle files. Unfortunately the mPack user manual doesn't go into details regarding more specifically the file extension its looking for. So I'm hoping someone reading this will know the specifics on exactly what a Caption File is, how to make it work in cooperation with the AVI file it goes to, and how to go about extracting and creating these Captional Files using AutoGK and not have the standard subtitle format.

Does it not say anything at all about the extension for the caption files? Usual ones are either .srt or .sub. .sub files (a set of .bmp images of text) are easily extracted using VobSub, and are relatively easily converted to .srt format (plain text with timecodes for when to display the subtitles).

I am moving the thread to our Subtitles forum, where you might find more assistance specific to your question.
