i'd recently just install BackTrack (after hours of downloading) onto a spare hard drive; unforunately, i forgot to unplug my other existing hard drives, which during the installation process installs something called GRUB (didn't know that)
now, everytime i reboot/start up my pc, it brings up a OS selection screen (to bad win2k isn't the 1st option)
after some research, the only way i can remove "GRUB", is to do a fixmbr or what-not, but someone said there's a chance i could lose my partitions
can someone verify that?

Run it anyway - if it finds anything dangerous, it'll ask you if you want to continue first. If all you have is 2k, you'll be fine; if you also have linux or anything else you'll probably get the warning and have to cancel. There are other tools that can help in this case, but I'm not very familiar with them.

you can edit the grub menu and place win2k as default OS. Running fixmbr (i usually run both fixboot/fixmbr) will make you loose the ability to boot the other non-windows partition.

do or die; thanks
while i'm here, how can i tell if my os (win2k sp4), can break the 137gb barrier, since i have a pci controller, i'd never had to worry about it, but i will eventually want to remove it (every little bit counts)
about 3 months ago, i'd attached a 200gb hard drive to the motherboard, slowing over the course a week, i was able to move about 2/3 of my anime collection and lost everything after the barrier; the guide, never mention 48lba had to be manually enter into the registry to work (now enable with tuneup utilities)
so, without an empty, oversize hard drive on hand, is it safe to move them over?
