Hi

Okay i've managed to finalise a dual layer dvd :-

Using dvd-shrink dvd-decrypter verbatim dvd+r 8.5gb

It plays on afriends machine and on my son's

BUT on mine it freezed at the break point with a black screen showing!

So is there a software burning program recommended that maintains compatability with the majority of domestic dvd machines

hi ancient23,

personally i would recommend:

1:1 copy of original dvd-9
dvd decrypter > read > iso mode (to rip an image of the disc onto your HD)
imgburn > write > iso mode (select .MDS file) to burn image onto blank disc

or

burn compilation/home made dual layer disc
use pgcedit to select a suitable layer break loaction and to create the .iso image which can then be burnt using imgburn. see this thread for further details:

"22 dual layer coasters to date"Does your burner either automatically do bitsetting for dual layer media, or does it allow for manual bitsetting?

If you're not already aware, bitsetting (can only be used with +R media) "fools" DVD players into "believing" that your burned +R media is actually a pressed DVD-ROM which, in theory, should be playable by any DVD player bearing the "DVD" logo...

Will this technique only work with DVD DL R+ Media?
