No sound on playback sometimes

98% of the time I am able to playback videos where the sound works perfectly however the odd time I dont get any sound. Is there a way to troubleshoot what version of divx or xvid I have and also what version the video I am trying to play is. Does it matter? Any advice or direction on where i should troubleshoot would be appreciated.

Use MediaInfo or Gspot.

Hi! - and welcome to the Doom9 forums.

1) You should keep better records of how you originally created these videos - including which video and audio codecs you used.

2) It's hard to understand why the system you used to create the videos, that includes the video and audio codecs you used, would not play the audio

I havent created them so I dont know the tools used to create them.
