Hi all

I'm backing up hostel to XviD 700mb, But i can't seem to hit the correct file size, Its always undersized by around 200 to 250mb, I've tried overflow treatment settings at 5,5,5 and 20,20,20, But it still comes out the same, I've checked the zones aren't enabled on second pass, Also tried disabling all avisynth filters in my script, Movie is 1hr.29minutes.27sec long, I'm using a bitrate of 946 (XviD) with 128 VBR mp3 audio size 86.9mb, I've tried virtualdubmod and megui, When opening the VOB files in dgindex i get the WARNING! opening GOP is not closed error, I have no trouble with any other movie only this one, Anyone have any idead what could be wrong.

What's the first-pass' filesize? (Use StatsReader to find that out.)

Not sure if this is the right way.

The reason is because the video is hitting the maximum quality it can already. You have two choices:
o Encode to this filesize and leave it be;
o Increase quality either with a better quantization matrix or by changing min quant to 1.
If you choose the second option I would recommend using a better matrix.. something like Didees 6of9 matrix would be a good choice.

EDIT: ooch, forgot increasing the resolution. Trust teegedeck!

Increasing resolution before going for a better matrix might yield a more visible gain.
