Do you know any software which can rip a Blu-ray movie disc in HD quality?

Can't be done yet. The same applies to HD-DVD.

by having a b-r compatible DVD-drive plus software player.

It also looks like you need a HDCP compatible motherboard, Graphics cards etc. Basically, a new PC.

AFAIK a new monitor is also in place. isn't it just monitor and GFX hardware wise that needs to support the new encryption (sadly enough)?

You know something really really cool... we don't have to buy into blueray or hd-dvd really what is the point to follow some marketing bs which sounds like similar to Microsoft's "it is our most secure version yet". What is this new media going to offer us besides the increase in storage capibility and higher quality video. In order to play the video we have to buy new computers new televisions. If you have a tv in your car ya you have to get a new tv. Is all of that really worth purchasing this crap. This is the same bs as the new great breakthough idea hollywood has came up with, "let make it so the our customers can't play the dvds on their computers"

We need a class action lawsuit for this and region codes with are total bs in themselves, but in the end they will pressure a judge indirectly and it would lose.

I am very happy with my mediaportal pc having all my dvd movies (over 200 purchased i have recipts) backup and converted to a media format so i can view them on my television with ease.

So if we refuse to buy it they (hollywood) will be forced to give us what we want or they go out of business very simple.

HD-DVD has already become quite popular. HD is fine for those who want/need the extra picture quality. I plan to upgrade my current projector to a HD in a few years when HD is more popular (it hasn't even been launched in Europe yet).
