View Full Version : AutoGK issue -> DVD decrypted with mutliple angles

"Note that AutoGK cannot work properly on a vobset that still has multiple angles/program chains, so make sure to use appropriate tools to prepare the vobset."

I tried to create an avi from DVD files that have been on my HD for ages. I didn't rip/decrypt the DVD properly (i.e. without multiple angles) and I'm getting a really weird result. The output file skips between the two angles (in this case, between the main movie and the storyboards) and doubles the audio. The raw VOB files do the same thing when I play them in PowerDVD (but not in VLC player for some reason).

I'm wondering if there's a way to correct the files on my HD so that I can use AutoGK on them.

Yes, re-rip the DVD again.

Specifically, re-rip the original DVD in .IFO mode with DVD Decrypter.

With the files on the hard drive, you can open the IFO for the movie in PGCDemux, and either "Create a PGC Vob" with the correct angle chosen, or Demux the entire thing, also choosing one of the angles. With the audio demuxed, though, you'll have to handle it outside of AutoGK, converting if necessary, and muxing with the video after AutoGK gets done with it.

I think that'll work, although I've never tried it myself.

Ok, new problem. I created new Vobs from the main movie IFO and AutoGK is fine with it except that now it won't let me select the subtitle tracks. It's a foreign film so these are pretty important. I can see the two AC3 tracks but nothing for the subtitles. I opened the VOBs in VLC and the subtitles are available there, I'm wondering why they aren't showing up in AutoGK and if I can fix this. I suppose I can create external subtitles manually if I have to.

Hi-

Yes, I specifically didn't mention subs because, 1) I didn't know whether or not an IFO was created along with the Vob, and 2) I suspected one was not, and therefore subs wouldn't be available, and 3) I was hoping you didn't need subs.

You can go back to the original DVD on the hard drive and get the vobsubs. Maybe you should allow a MB or 2 on the CD for the subs when compressed. Next you're going to tell me you want to burn the subs into the movie. :)

There is another way I know to get the movie and subs using AutoGK all the way through, but it's kind of a pain to do. Create an ISO or IMG using IMGTool Classic or some such. Mount it in Daemon Tools. Open DVD Decrypter which will then read it as a fresh DVD in the virtual drive. Decrypt, this time using IFO Mode.

Update: The movie came out nicely, without subs of course, but I used SubRip to rip external text subs, which are fine.

Thanks for your help, manono.

Oh and the reason I couldn't re-rip the original DVD is because I left it in a different country.
