Many apologies if this is posted in the wrong thread/ section.....but can anyone help? Im desperate... :(

Ive been using DVD Shrink for many years now, but its decided to suddenly develop a fault, and i'm clueless what to do to remedy it.

After I've ripped a dvd, and then initiate dvd shrink, it starts to run......then stops - and brings up an error box, saying the following:

"DVD Shrink encountered an error and cannot continue.

Failed to write file "C:/dvd/VTS_01_02.VOB"

A Device attached to the system is not functioning"

Can ANYONE advise me whats wrong?? Its been working fine since day 1, yet suddenly it just wont work. Do i need to take my PC in for repair? Can i simply wipe the hard drive, reboot it, load it up again - and have this fix the problem?

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated....im a complete noob when it comes to shrink.....so hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance guys ;)

Sounds like a DVD Shrink issue not a ripping one. Thread moved.

Indeed, as blutach indicated, this error largely pops up when there's a problem during the original rip. Othertimes it's because the ripper in question deals with newer protection schemes in a manner that DVD Shrink is unfamiliar with. Try using the RipIt4Me package in combination with DVD Decrypter to re-rip your original to your hard drive, then give it another go. I'd bet this problem will disappear using this method.

http://ripit4me.org/ for full guide and program download. After you set it up, it's a VERY easy-to-use -- and free -- solution that has regular updates.

Hope this helps!

Your media is probably damaged, scratched or dirty. Or the reader is no good.

If all else fails, get your original out and do it again.

some expertise think so .
