okay I have an anime i would like to rip to xvid
Iv used dvd decrypter in ifo mode to rip to hard drive. But but the first vob VTS_01_1.VOB contains commercials before the actual video starts. I would like to rip the commercials but i would like to keep the Jap/Eng 5.1 and the two sub streams intact. With mpegcut it seems its not keeping the subs/2nd audio stream intact just the original jap audio.
So basically all i want to do is trim the commercials and maintain the two audio and subtitle streams. Will it be possible to make the audio lossless and just recode the video later?
After trimming i will run it through avi.net or autogk. Any help is appreciated

Hi!
Why not do the conversion to XviD first, including the commercials - and then simply load the XviD into VirtualDub and (with BOTH "Video" and "Audio" set to "Direct Stream Copy") crop off the beginning? The cropping with VirtualDub will take less than two minutes...

hmm, never thought of it that way. Its just Im using avi.net and if i include the 300mb of video then that will also increase the compression % which will result in a lower quality picture. But i guess i could do it that way.

Hi,
Did you try instead of ripping with DvdD only to use Ripit4me (in movie mode) to see if it will clean up more than DvdD alone?
If no good, either go with Setarip_old solution or try some more powerful (but harder to use) tools like Vobblanker or Pgcedit... before encoding.

Have you tried disabling chapters in the PGC? More often than not, I find commercials, intros, etc in a separate chapter.

Hi CrisCr0ss! :)
In DVD Shrink I find the option "Re-author" - "Set Start/End Frames"
to be very useful for a situation as you described.

Its just Im using avi.net and if i include the 300mb of video then that will also increase the compression % which will result in a lower quality picture.I'm not personally familiar with "AVI.NET" - but I'm guessing it would allow you to set the filesize to 300Mb greater than you normally would (To compensate for the commercials, etc). This would eliminate your concern about unnecessary compression and then you could, as I initially suggested simply use irtualDub to cut off the unwanted commercials...
