mpeg2 needs to be trimmed then encoded to xvid

i usually use autogk to convert vob or other stuff to xvid. i can feed it the mpeg2 i've captured with my tv card, but i don't want the whole mpeg encoded -- i want to first trim the start and end. i could do this afterwards but then the file isn't the target size i wanted. i've tried using virtualdubmod to trim the mpeg2 first, but it doesn't save mpeg2 back out. what should i do? thanks

Hi!

You can use any one of several tools, two of which are "MPEG2CUT.EXE" and "TMPGEnc".

(In "TMPGEnc" - TMPGEnc>>File>>MPEGTools>>Merge&Cut)

great, mpeg2cut has done the trick. tmpgenc had run out of a 30 day licence or something.
