PSL2 plugin release 2.21; RipIt4Me release 1.4.14.0
First of all let me state the largest appreciation to the authors of both ripping tools.
I have to be honest - until today I did not fully realise the real advantages of the second on the first... NOW I DO...
The situation is related to the Italian release of INSIDE MAN. What happens is something new (at least in my experience) in the disc protection scenario.
Here is the protection scheme:
just VTS01 protected
Cell list Entry point Last LBA
cell 1 512 524
cell 2 525 3845 (unplayable)
cell 3 3846 3858
Nothing new, apart the entry point sector of the first cell of the pgc containing the protected movie is not 0. In the VTS_VOBU_ADMAP, the first VOBU referenced is VOBU_1, at address 0, and the second VOBU, which is the entry point of the first cell, is at the address 512.
In this scenario, the PSL2 plugin generates a PSL2 file allowing to skip the cell2 alone:
PSL2
0:0x5B0FAE86,0,INSIDE_MAN - Zone 2
1:210208,213528
6:1,1,2,2,1
6:1,1,2,3,1
6:1,1,2,4,0
VTS origin is at LBA 209683, so 210208 --> 525; 213528 --> 3845. This PSL is not sufficient to rip properly the DVD, since also the sectors from 0 to 511 are crap, referenced in the VTS_VOBU_ADMAP...
The PSL file produced by RipIt4Me is:
PSL2
0:0x5B0FAE86,0,RipIt4Me-INSIDE_MAN
1:209843,210194
1:210368,213528
6:1,1,2,2,1
6:1,1,2,3,1
6:1,1,2,4,0
Which allows to properly rip the DVD...
Something is still unclear to me, since the analysis (with IfoEdit) of the situation would be ideally to remove all of the crap from sector 0 to sector 511 (VOBU_1) and from sector 525 to 3845 (VOBU_3...VOBU_417), e.g. something like:
PSL2
0:0x5B0FAE86,0,INSIDE_MAN
1:209683,210194
1:210208,213528
6:1,1,2,2,1
6:1,1,2,3,1
6:1,1,2,4,0
Anyway, RipIt4Me allowed to rip successfully the DVD...
Sorry for all of this bla, bla, and double sorry if the scenario is already known.
Just wanted to share my findings with the forum users.
Afraid I have not access (stupid firewall troubles...) to digital_digest, where some topics related to the plugin seems widely discussed...
Cheers,
SD
Edit: some spelling...
