I can't get the subtitles on a DVD again

Hi Folks

I’m back again. I posted a few months back about adding subtitles to “Hamburger Hill” which had no subtitles at all. I can’t remember how I did it but I did manage to eventually add the subtitles and although by the end of the film they were about 30 seconds or more out of sync I was happy with the result.

Now I’m trying to add (English) subtitles to Wolf Creek. I have the original movie which I have ripped to my hard drive (main movie only) and I have downloaded the English subtitles. I’m now using SubtitleCreator 2.0.6.

Alas it’s just not happening again and any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Here’s the story and I hope it makes sense (sorry if it’s a long post) …………..

I have batchupdateifo, MuxMan, PgcDemux and VobBlanker in the DVD folder on the “C” drive.

I have SubtitleCreator 2.0.6 and .NET framework version 2 installed as well as PowerDVD version 5 (I do have dvdshrink installed but I have uninstalled it and it makes no difference) and nero recode is installed also.

I open SubtitleCreator and use the DVD authoring wizard and do the following:

Locate DVD (Wolf Creek on I drive) Open I:\a wolf film only\VIDEO_TS

Select output location (by default) I:\a wolf film only\VIDEO_TS (Temp. files in SC_TEMP subdirectory, new DVD in VIDEO_TS)

Click next:

1 with arrow going down, language En, Add subtitle = afo-xvid-wc.srt

I don’t select next subtitle.

SubtitleCreator main screen returns with a message under the preview window ……

“Warning” Selected subtitle’s duration is too short (15 chars/Sec)

Film then plays in window upside down but subtitles are perfect and in a good position (and almost in sync).

What do I do now ?. Do I have to press the “Create SUP and return to wizard” button ?. If I do this the program seems to freeze (although I can still move the mouse cursor) or an egg timer comes up, the program hangs then I have to quit OR more than likely I get this message (below) and if I click continue then it goes back to the SubtitleCreator start up screen……………

Hi ditz,

Normally, you must press the “Create SUP and return to wizard” button. Then SubtitleCreator should create a SUP file and go back to the wizard.

It seems there's an error in the SUP file creation. What you should do is try creating the SUP file first, then adding it to the DVD with the wizard (choose the SUP file instead of the SRT).

1°) Open SubtitleCreator.
2°) Files -> Open Text Subtitles.
3°) Files -> Save SUP.

This should either create a SUP file or display an error message.

Then proceed with the wizard using the SUP instead of the SRT.

Not only did it work, the subs are switchable AND they're in sync!.

manusse, I love you and I want to have your babies (well, lots of thanks )

Now to dig out my back catalouge of movies without subs. Is it easy to add subs to TV series DVD's?. I have sleeper Cell which is 3 episodes per disc (no subs of any type on them). Is this possible with SubtitleCreator ?.
