View Full Version : Bad Syncword

Hi,

I want to rip the Audio from a DVD concert (Queen - We Will Rock You), in order to get Wav files 2Ch.
I have used DVD Decrypter and then tried to encode the 6ch AC3 files (BTW, I had to rename them because they came out as .VOB from Decrypter) with Nero.

Nero failed, I got only a noisy flat sound.

I then tried ProCoder2, it failed as well.

I tried HeadAC3he and got the Bad Syncword error.

I tried AC3Fix, which did not fix anything, I got an .ac3 file completely distorted with running at double speed.

At this point, I am in a dead end and do know what to do anymore.

I tried to extract the files with VOBEdit, unfortunately I can only extract a single big file, which is a problem, but anyhow, HeadAC3he fails as well.

So why the hell the file I extract is corrupted? :scared:

Thank you
Alex

My "How to rip a DVD audiostream, using DVD Decrypter"

1) Load your DVD

2) Set DVD Decrypter to "IFO" mode

3) DVD Decrypter should automatically highlight/select the main movie under the "Input" tab

4) Click on the "Stream Processing" tab and check "Enable stream processing"

5) UNcheck all of the videostreams and audiostreams OTHER THAN THE ONE YOU WISH TO EXTRACT

6) Click on "Demux"

7) Click on the "Destination" icon and select the drive/folder location to save the audiostream to

8) Click on the "Decrypt" icon

Note - For an LPCM stereo audiostream, you may have to go to:

Tools>>Settings>>IFO Mode and increase the VOB size from 1Gb to 2Gb, in order to be sure to generate only one .VOB for the entire audiostream

Thanks for the guide, but I know how to use Decrypter, I have done exactly what you describe, but the files are corrupted according to the programs that are supposed to encode them.

My question:

Why do I get extension .VOB?

However, if I play the file I get, either with VOB or ac3 extension, they play perfectly.

Thanks
Alex

You need step 6A. Click on the stream you wish to demux.

Come on guys, of course I do demux, the files I get out of Decrypter, either I play them with ext. .VOB or .ac3 (after having renamed them), they play perfectly.

...but when I get to encode to Wav, the bad syncword error pops up and stops the process (in headAC3he).

You can't just rename a VOB to an AC3. You need to perform step 6A and actually get an AC3.

In any event, if you use BeSweet/BeLite, it can handle VOBs as input. Try that.

And lose the attitude. We are trying to help you and you are acting like a petulant little child.

Blutach,

I do not know why you wrote such a nonsense by saying "to lose the attitude" or "Little child"
I just explained more times the nature of the problem I am facing and I cannot accept your statement.
I hope this is only a misunderstanding.

Thanks anyhow for your help.

Well, I've been asking why do I get the VOB extension, I do not know. After renaming them to .ac3, they play well.

I'm going to try BeSweet/BeLite, but do not forget that I tried ProCoder2 from DVD as a source to PCM and it failed, therefore I am not sure I will succeed.

Keep informed.

You get VOB because you do not select the stream to be demuxed. Only by highlighting it in the stream processing, will you get AC3 (or SUP for subtitles) or M2V for video.

Sorry Blutach, would you please point me to a sentence that was unpolite?

OK, just to be sure we speak the same language.
Enclosed the JPG of what I do.
When I click the Decrypt button I get files with .VOB extension.

Where am I wrong?

Thanks

Blutach,

Problem solved, it is indeed because I did not highlight the stream :stupid: , the encoding is now good, no errors.

Thank you!;)

I am happy for that. Perhaps you have learned something.
