View Full Version : how to play rv9/10 ?

I have some movies in mkv container with rv9 and rv10 codec, but I cant play them. vlc doesnt have built in real support and even with realplayer 10 gold these files cant be played. what can I do now ?

you need two components for RV playback in dshow: the realmedia 'splitter' and the real decoder dlls. You can get the splitter as part of the Real Alternative package, and the dlls are also included in that package. You can also install the official Real Player and use the dlls from that instead (they are exactly the same though).

allright, I dled the package and with media playder classic I can play it now, thx. any chance to get that file somehow playing in vcl or powerdvd 7 ?

VLC, no. But mplayer can play such a file using a real dll to decode.
PowerDVD, I guess if you have real player dll's, Gabest's real splitter and a matroska splitter installed then it should work. It would at least work in WMP.
