widescreen stretched fullscreen - help please

I have an Xvid movie which I want to convert to DVD. I've used various programs i.e. dvdSanta, ConvertXtoDVD, TMPGEnc to output my xvid to DVD 16:9 widescreen and when I play them back on my PC it looks ok with black borders top and bottom. The problem is that when I play the DVD on my Sony DVD player it stretches the DVD to fullscreen on my widescreen TV. I have no problems playing other DVDs on my DVD player/ widescreen TV setup so it's not an issue with playback settings. Any help would be appreciated.

Just because you deleted your previous post where you asked for help with a file you specifically stated was a download of a DVD rip doesn't mean you can knowingly ask for help with the same exact file and omit the downloaded part. Absolutely! I'll not take the time to make your "deleted" thread visible, as I'm closing this one, but you can't "timeshift" a request and expect it to fly.
