I am trying to rip my second DVD. The first one I ripped was Braveheart, and aside from learning how to do it, I had no real problems and was happy with my copy. It ripped, converted, and burnt well.

However, I'm trying to rip Rush Hour 2 and The Score so that I can make copies of them, and cladDVD says that there are still "Locked sectors" that need to be fixed manually.

Now do I have to look at every single thing the DVD has to offer, or is there an easier way to unlock everything so that I can rip it.

Please email me - briguy@fix.net.

Thanks,
SirBriGuy

Hi-you might try Smart Ripper-I don't know The Score, but no problem with Rush Hour 2.

I tried using Smart Ripper and when I run it, it starts to scan the DVD... "testing file access" and it gets as far as VTS_01_0.VOb and says its locked! Then it say "Try to unlock with player". I looked through everything I could in the DVD with my player to try to unlock something. I went through the whole menu.

Any ideas out there?

Play the main movie in a softwareplayer and then start SmartRipper. Select your favorite options and start ripping.
If you see a cryptic combination of letters and number on the right side, you did right. Than can you stop the DVD playback and wait until the rip is finished.

how about using dvddecrypter to unlock and vstrip to rip? That's the way I do it.. works each and every time. Of course.. vstrip is harder to use than smartripper.. but the fact that it always works should be reward enough.

I downloaded DVD Decrypter 3 and installed it. I get an error:

I 14:18:18 DVD Decrypter Version 3.0.0.8 started!
I 14:18:18 Initialising ASPI manager...
E 14:18:18 Unable to initialise ASPI manager!
E 14:18:18 Reason: The specified module could not be found.

I've noticed this error when I run a couple of these DVD-related programs.

You have not installed ASPI properly. Download the ForceASPI, applicable to your operating system, install the ASPI layer (latest version is 4.60.1021), re-boot and try again with clad or SR. It should now work just fine. You may find the ForceASPI at Doom9 or at cladMdec site [http://clonead.cjb.net]
