Hi all.
Mainly on the warm fuzzies of Setarip_old, I installed DVD95 Copy (Pro). As yet I have not had the need to try it out, but I did explore all the 'help menu' and checked out all the applications windows that I could access without actually loading DVD's.
As a result, I have a couple of questions that are not covered in the 'help' menu that I hope you can answer from past experience.
1. In the 'options' window, under 'copy type' all the functions of each button is explained in the Help menu except "Ripping".
When would I have the need to select this function, and to what end?
2. On the actual main window of the program, in the bottom left corner there are 2 check boxes. The one I am interested in is 'Keep DTS'. I believe this may have something to do with sound.
Again, when would I have a need to tick this box and to what effect?
You experience is appreciated. :o

1) "Ripping" is for making an uncompressed "warts and all" 1:1 copy to your hard drive
2) Yes, "Keep DTS" is an option regarding "DTS"-format audiostreams. The option to NOT keep (DE-select by UN-checking) DTS is offered because:
A) DTS audiostreams are quite large
B) All DVDs that contain a DTS audiostream will always also include an .AC3 and/or stereo audiostream with the same content, because
C) Not all user setups include DTS playback capability...

Thanks Setarip_old.
I knew you would come through. If I could just ask for a small clarification.
As is usual, I generally choose .AC3 because I think that is the format that will give me the surround sound effect, am I right?
Following on from there, should I choose DTS or AC3 if both are available, eitherway, would you advise that I unselect either one of them, if so, how?
I hope that makes sense.

Following on from there, should I choose DTS or AC3 if both are available, eitherway, would you advise that I unselect either one of them, if so, how? That would depend on what you want to accomplish when copying a DVD.
A) If your system doesn't have DTS playback ability, you certainly don't want to copy ONLY the DTS audiostream, because you won't hear anything on playback ;>}
B) If your system doesn't have DTS playback ability, but you'd like to retain that capability for the future or you're a purist who wants to keep all features of the DVD, by all means, keep both audiostreams.I unselect either one of them, if so, how?You already know how to do this for DTS - UN-check the box that says "Keep DTS" by clicking on it. For DE-selecting ANY other audiostreams (Different languages, Director's comments, etc.), doubleclick on the main movie's abbreviations that appear under the "Audio" column - and DE-select those that you don't wish to retain...

Thanks 'setarip-old'.
I think you have answered my question as the process appears to me in my mind.
When it will comes down to an actual 'copy and burn' of a DVD, no doubt some more question will come up, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
