I am capturing VHS tapes from an old VCR via an USB capture device (Dazzle DVC90) into VDub, but I cannot hear the audio while capturing. I can see the video in preview in VDub but it doesn't transmit the audio via the speakers. Does anyone know why? VDub captures the video and audio in the resulting AVI file fine.

Hi, I posted about this identical DVC90 glitch at the Vdub forum recently,
link (http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act=ST&f=6&t=12922&)
and they didn't have a solution either.
I suspect it might be due to Pinnacle's proprietary USB driver, but maybe someone here will have a fix.
The VDub developer did inform me that you can't adjust the capture's audio volume when using a usb device, only when you're using a sound card for source audio.
I've learned to capture, and if needed, then demux the audio stream, and edit volume in my sound editor, Audacity freeware. (I also use Magix Audio Cleaning Lab to kill vhs hiss and static crackle).
Then in VDub, "Browse for Audio" to load the edited track back into my video.
But it would be nice if someone here has a solution for the capture preview audio problem.
good luck to all us DVC-90 users!
:)
