how do i implement a simple picture viewer on a DVD

im using DVD-Lab and it allows me to create a slideshow with preset timer but i want to be able to make it so that the viewer is able to view next/previous pictures using the right/left buttons or some other manual control of that nature. a thumbnail page preview would be a bonus as well.

Hi!

Since the DVDLab Pro slideshow structure appears to be essentially the same as the chapter and title structure of a "normal" video DVD, you might try creating the slideshow as prescribed with a preset timer of perhaps 10 seconds each - and see if pressing the left or right arrow keys takes you back to the last picture/chapter or forward to the next picture/chapter...

thanks for the workaround, althought im still looking for some way to do it directly, and it doesn't have to be for DVD-Lab, another authoring program is fine, i just dont know of one that allows that yet

The simplest way would be to create a chapter point at each slide and set each slide length to whatever you want the timer to be - say 10s.

Create 1 PGC with every chapter. Now when you play, each slide will run for its' predetermined time (above 10s), but the next/prev buttons would move forward and backward through the chapters.
Make a post command in the PGC to tell the player what to do after the last slide has played.
This is very easy to do in DVDPlanner - see the help file for making slideshows. (NB bmps cannot be imported until the next version is released which will be in a few days; work permitting)

By doing this way the slideshow track will be created as seamless so the jump to each slide should be instant - it also gives you the option of setting the slides to infinite display aswell if required.
