I tried to merge two AVIs captured with a Canon G6 using VirtualDub 1.6.12 and it worked. However, the resulting file is too big. My two orginal avi clips are of size 5138 KB and 8575 KB and the output file is of 223970 KB. Does anyone know how to cut down the output size? or can you suggest any thing else to produce smaller combined file? Thanks in advance!

Maybe you are saving the video as Uncompressed RGB? For simple merging, do Video > Direct stream copy.

Thank you for your reply. I will try again. I did do some cutting to the clips before joining them. Hope there's saving options that I can choose for compressed video.

it seems that you didn't get this right....
DO NOT search for "compressed" or anything like that.
You just select "DIRECT STREAM COPY" for video and audio.
and just a tip./// vdub some times (when splitin' or join' clips) it produce's a slight bigger file size than it should (lets say you are expecting a 700MB but you are getting a 701MB)
When this happens you should use NadDub which is more acurate on that part.

gatekeeper_007,
you are right. I didn't get it right. I selected "DIRECT STREAM COPY" and got a good result with expected size. Thank you both, ilovejedd and you, for your help!
