Yes, it is possible.

You need to extract the bmp's from the .sub file using Subrip(great tool). Use Spruce DVDMaestro as output format.

Then use son2vobsub to convert to .idx and sub.

The only thing that you will probably not like is that you will end up with one set of .idx .sub files for each language.
